MARY RENATO BERMAN - FROM THE BIG APPLE - RE- LED & CYRIL 8/9

As Cyril said when he began the show, "It is warm in Hawaii, this is hot!".
103 degrees in NYC but luckily the air conditioning at the Knitting Factory
was working because the place was packed with fans of slack key guitar. As
with the other shows, Cyril led off with a half hour set with one hula
danced to Hiilawe by Janu Cassidy from the Hawaii Cultural Foundation in NY
. Then Led did his half hour, actually longer since he kept saying just one
more. Lots of favorites including Radio Hula and then what Led called a
Hawaiian classic, Killing Me Softly, played on the ukulele. Then Cyril came
back on and they played for another half hour. Lots of shouts of hana hou
but only one encore because another act was scheduled after them. A
fantastic evening, more relaxing than 10 years of therapy for crazed New
Yorkers.
Best of all, I get to see Led and Cyril, part 2 on Saturday at the Towne Crier Cafe in Pawling, NY.
