MARY RENATO BERMAN - Aug. 11 - Pawling, NY - Towne Crier Café I had a little detour after Pawling to a computer-less week on the beach in Rhode Island. Led and Cyril were, of course, fantastic! The music was pretty much the same as in NYC but they were much more relaxed and talked and joked a lot more without the pressure of another show following right after. They did a two song encore, ending with "Honolulu, how do you do" and they hung around and signed CDs and posters and took pictures with whoever asked. Cyril seemed particularly amused at being in Pawling, NY - definitely in the middle of nowhere. The audience was a real mix. Some really seemed to know the music and there was one older couple who knew Gabby - Cyril dedicated a song to them. The rest seemed to be a mix of people who had visited Hawaii and people who just wandered in for dinner. It didn't matter to Led and Cyril though. No matter where I've seen them, they always make you feel like yo're hanging out in someone's backyard.
