RADIO RECEPTION: Most of the FM radio stations receivable in the Honokaa area originate from Maui. Hilo radio station KKBG FM (KBIG) operates an FM translator facility near town. In certain parts of town, the KKBG FM signal is so strong that it interferes with signals from other stations. A low-power religious FM station has also started to broadcast from Honokaa. It is KJHI at 107.3 FM and is operated by Kings Herald Radio Association.

FM stations from Honolulu can also be received, but reception is spotty depending on where you are. AM reception is available from several stations on Maui, Oahu and in Hilo. Honokaa offers excellent night time radio reception of mainland radio stations on the West Coast.
