McLibrary Night Fund-raiser

To celebrate National Library Week, McDonald's of Waimanalo was one of 58 McDonald's statewide to host a McLibrary night. On April 18 from 5 to 8 pm, library staff told stories and led activities for 38 people at McDonald's of Waimanalo. Ten percent of the food sales from the 58 McLibrary Nights is being donated to the Hawaii State Public Library System to buy children's books. Some of those children's books will be at Waimanalo Public and School Library. Mahalo to McDonald's for supporting reading and our public libraries. One of the moms at the Waimanalo McLibrary Night asked if we would be having evening story telling at the library--and the answer is Yes!

Ohana Storytime

Ohana Storytimes will be presented at the library every Wednesday evening in May at 6:45 pm. We will have stories and activities for children of all ages so bring the entire family to the library on Wednesday evenings.

Keiki Storytime

We will have Keiki Storytime on Tuesdays at 10:30 am in May. Keiki Storytime is designed for preschoolers accompanied by a parent or caregiver. The theme for our first storytime on May 7 will be Moms, so in addition to hearing some great stories we will be making Mother's Day cards.

Summer Reading Programs

The theme for this year's Summer Reading Program for children is Discover the Magic of Reading. The theme for the Young Adult (7th to 12th grade) Reading Program is Rock, Rap n' Read. The Friends of Waimanalo have donated some terrific incentives for us to reward this year's summer readers, so get ready to read!

The details will be in next month's Waimanalo News.
