The Board of Water Supply has included several projects in Waimanalo in its budget for fiscal years 1996 to 2001. Waimanalo Well III will produce 0.5 million gallons per day. It is described as a new Windward area source at the 280 foot elevation. It is to meet the projected increase in demand. An exploratory well is scheduled for Fiscal Year 1995. The preparation of an Engineering report, an Environmental Assessment and the plans and specifications for the pump station, transmission main and appurtenances is scheduled for 1999, at a cost of $465,000. The installation of one pump, control building, piping, access road, landscaping, irrigation system, and other equipment is scheduled for 2001, at a cost of $6.9 million.
Also in the six year CIP Program is a Kalanianaole Highway 36 inch main, from Olomana. The new parallel main is to improve transmission between Pohakupu and Waimanalo. The preparation of an Environmental Assessment and the plans for the transmission line are scheduled for 1997, at a cost of $500,000. Installation of the transmission of the line from Poalima Street to Olomana Golf Course (4,500 linear feet) is scheduled for 1999, and estimated at $4 million. Phase II will take the line along Hihimanu Street from Nonokio Street to Kalanianaole Highway. Scheduled for the year 2000, it is estimated at $5.5 million.
