Pasta Italiana
1/2 lb sesame macaroni
2 16 oz cans of tomatoes
2 15 oz cans red kidney beans, drained
1 C tomato sauce
4 oz mushroom pieces (optional)
1 clove garlic
1 bay leaf
1 t onion powder
1 t chopped parsley
1 t salt
1/2 t sweet basil
1/2 t oregano
Cook sesame macaroni as directed on package. Meanwhile, bring remaining ingredients to a boil, then simmer for 20 minutes. Remove bay leaf, and pour over macaroni. May be baked as a caserole, or served immediately. Serves 6. Variation: substitute cooked brown rice for macaroni.
Cottage or French Fries
4 lage potatoes
Salt or garlic salt
Paprika
Wash potatoes thoroughly, scrubbing each with a vegetable brush. For Cottage Fries, cut potatoes lengthwise into 1/8ths or smaller. For French Fries, run potatoes lengthwise through the `julienne' slicer of a food processor. Lightly salt while still wet. Sprinkle with paprika. Place on sprayed cookie sheets and bake at 450[[ring]] F for 30 to 40 minutes, or until golden brown, stirring occasionally.
