Ooh! Snow atop Mauna Kea. This trip was made in February '88. The temperature up on Mauna Kea was a cool 42 degrees when I took this picture at around 10 a.m..Down in Hilo, the temperature was about 82 degrees. Mauna Kea's summit is over 14,600 feet above sea level. Way off in the distance under the horizontal bank of clouds is Haleakala over on Maui.
