The vernal equinox was kind to Southern California, coaxing us into believing that "spring had sprung!" Little did we know what was awaiting us in the next few weeks.

Leo Carrillo has been known in the surfing circles as "Secos" which means dry in Spanish. As you can see the canyon creek which leads to the shore is not dry at all in this year of El Niño. Great for Surfing and Windsurfing, this beach also offers great rock climbing and scuba diving at the point. It was the site of the second and third "Gidget" movies of the 60's, and boasts a beautiful cave that leads from one secluded beach to the next. It too has been seen on film many times.

This panorama also features one of California's most precious resources, my family.
