Thank you El Niño. Thank you for turning our normally parched brown landscape into verdant fields awash with a rainbow of colors. Wild flowers are popping up throughout the county and our flower farmers are basking in the bounty of their labors and Mother Earth's creative genius.
It is an overcast day with temperatures in the 60's, a slight breeze from the west and the occasional drizzle moistens the earth. After a short drive off West Lilac on a muddy dirt road, I grab my tripod, home-made pano mount, and Apple QuickTake 200 digital camera and head for a well cultivated patch of Rinunculas on the side of the hill. Many flowers are bent and broken from this season's intense wind and rain - but the strong survive as they follow the filtered sun across the sky. A few minutes in the fields and my job is done. I pack up my gear and head down the road. In front of my computer I quickly upload and process my memento of Earth Day 1998. A few minutes at the keyboard with pen to paper and this day is done.
Thank you all who have read this for taking a few minutes to experience my work. Thank you Rabbett for your tireless efforts. Thank you Apple for supporting this technology. Thank you Mother Earth for your generous gifts of greatness.
