What is a panorama and how do I explore it?

With a QuickTime VR panorama, you can explore a 360-degree scene using your mouse or keyboard.

If you've installed the QuickTime software and its browser plug-in correctly, you should see a small image appear below.

This is a small preview panorama -- the panoramas on the rest of this site are bigger and much sharper. We've deliberately made this one tiny so that you can start exploring right away.

To "move around" in the panorama, position your mouse pointer anywhere within the image -- notice that the pointer's shape changes into a small circle. You can now navigate as follows:

You can also zoom in to take a closer look at something, or zoom out to take in more of the scene at once. Here's how:

If you've never used QuickTime VR before, you might want to practice navigating using the preview panorama above. After you've polished your VR-navigation skills, you're ready to explore the world!
